Forge Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Forge Operators. The ideal candidates will operate and maintain forging machinery to ensure high-quality production of metal components. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Operate forging equipment such as mechanical and hydraulic presses, hammers, and trimming machines.
- Set up machines according to production specifications (dies, temperatures, speeds, etc.).
- Monitor production processes and adjust ensure parts meet quality and dimensional specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines to ensure operational efficiency.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
- Inspect forged parts for surface defects, cracks, and other imperfections using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Document production output and machine parameters in production logs.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
- 2-3 years of experience operating industrial machinery, preferably in a forging or metalworking environment.
- Familiarity with forging processes and basic metallurgy is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs and working in high-heat environments.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Exposure to loud noise, high heat, and heavy machinery.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toe boots.
