Job Description


We are seeking a dedicated and reliable non-CDL Driver to join our team. As a non-CDL Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating transit vehicles, ensuring excellent customer service, and complying with all relevant laws and regulations. You will play a vital role in providing transportation services to the general public, including individuals with disabilities and the elderly.

Responsibilities:

  • Transit vehicles safely operate according to the schedule or printed manifest.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT laws and regulations.
  • Perform vehicle inspections before and after each trip, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisory personnel regarding operational issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to passengers, including assisting individuals with disabilities.
  • Collect fares from passengers and ensure proper payment.
  • Report traffic accidents, customer incidents, and complete all required logs and reports.
  • Assist in emergency evacuations and recovery activities, as assigned.
  • Follow safety procedures when operating lift systems and securing wheelchairs, scooters, and other assistive devices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies, including Drug & Alcohol, ADA, EEO, Title VI, and Code of Conduct.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • DOT physical certification.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Legible handwriting and basic math skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and read maps.
  • Familiarity with state and local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to stay alert and operate vehicles safely under varying conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent driving, sitting, and grasping.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds) and walking.
  • Ability to detect sounds such as vehicle horns and emergency sirens.
  • Constant need for vision acuity for vehicle operation.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions including temperature extremes, vehicle fumes, and varying weather.
  • Ability to work under challenging conditions and handle various physical tasks.
