Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable non-CDL Driver to join our team. As a non-CDL Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating transit vehicles, ensuring excellent customer service, and complying with all relevant laws and regulations. You will play a vital role in providing transportation services to the general public, including individuals with disabilities and the elderly.
Responsibilities:
- Transit vehicles safely operate according to the schedule or printed manifest.
- Ensure compliance with DOT laws and regulations.
- Perform vehicle inspections before and after each trip, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisory personnel regarding operational issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers, including assisting individuals with disabilities.
- Collect fares from passengers and ensure proper payment.
- Report traffic accidents, customer incidents, and complete all required logs and reports.
- Assist in emergency evacuations and recovery activities, as assigned.
- Follow safety procedures when operating lift systems and securing wheelchairs, scooters, and other assistive devices.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies, including Drug & Alcohol, ADA, EEO, Title VI, and Code of Conduct.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- DOT physical certification.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Legible handwriting and basic math skills.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and read maps.
- Familiarity with state and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Ability to stay alert and operate vehicles safely under varying conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent driving, sitting, and grasping.
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds) and walking.
- Ability to detect sounds such as vehicle horns and emergency sirens.
- Constant need for vision acuity for vehicle operation.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions including temperature extremes, vehicle fumes, and varying weather.
- Ability to work under challenging conditions and handle various physical tasks.
